Sabrina showcased her innovative research on creating a flexible soft robotic arm, while Cristian shared his findings on the advanced coordination of large drone swarms. Both have made outstanding contributions, bringing pride to the CAS lab and the Mechanical Engineering department.

Sabrina, a junior at the University of Iowa, is engaged in a project at the CAS lab, where she's developing a soft robot. This cutting-edge device is driven by twisted and coiled artificial muscles. It's poised to be a key asset for both the CAS and the SMMS labs, aiding in the rigorous evaluation of control systems and theoretical models. Her valuable research endeavors are supported by the University of Iowa's Office of Undergraduate Research.

Cristian, a senior undergraduate, is spearheading a pioneering project on drone swarming at the CAS lab. He's in the process of establishing a state-of-the-art experimental facility that will showcase the autonomous flight and formation control of a fleet of 200 drones. His impressive work has earned him the NASA Iowa Space Grant Consortium Undergraduate Researcher Scholarship, as well as the AY 2023/2024 ICRU Fellowship.
